Melissa Kanchanapoomi Levin, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist dedicated to excellence in comprehensive and personalized dermatological care, specializing in inflammatory facial dermatoses such as acne and rosacea and cosmetic dermatology. She was previously the Director of Clinical Research at Marmur Medical on the Upper East Side as well as a private practice dermatologist at both Marmur Medical and Spring Street Dermatology in Soho, both practices in Manhattan. She is a Clinical Assistant Attending Professor at New York University (NYU) Langone Medical Center and a Clinical Instructor at the Mount Sinai Icahn School of Medicine in the Department of Dermatology.
Melissa was born and raised in California until the age of ten, when she moved to Bangkok, Thailand, where she studied in international school before returning back to California. She graduated summa cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa with a History major from the University of California of Los Angeles. While at UCLA, she spent two years conducting cutting-edge research on causes of acne. She earned her medical degree from the University of California of San Francisco, completing the prestigious Doris Duke Charitable Foundation International Clinical Research Fellowship, graduating as a member of Alpha Omega Alpha honor society. After completing her internal medicine internship at the California Pacific Medical Center as the “Best Intern of the Year”, Dr. Levin trained at New York University Langone Medical Center, one of the highest-ranking dermatology residency programs, where she won awards for her research in laser surgery and received the Morris Leider Award as “the best all-around resident” for Excellence in Dermatology.
Dr. Levin has presented at professional meetings, teaching physicians as a trainer regarding cosmetic treatments including neuromodulators, fillers, and laser surgery. She serves as a reviewer for numerous medical journals and continues to perform clinical research trials for innovative laser devices and soft tissue enhancement of injectable fillers for aesthetics and acne. She is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Society of Dermatologic Society, the Women’s Dermatologic Society, and the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, and Alpha Omega Alpha.
She has shared her dermatology expertise to multiple media outlets such as Fox 5 NY News, Doctor Radio with Sirius XM, Allure, Cosmopolitan, Vogue, New Beauty, InStyle, Women’s Health Magazine, Self Magazine, Conde Naste Traveler, Byrdie, American Spa Magazine, Prevention, Buzzfeed, Lane Crawford, etc.
Global dermatology is a passion for Dr. Levin. She has cared for patients, educated local health care providers, and performed clinical research in various international settings, including Thailand, Uganda, and Botswana. As a former ballerina and a current yogi, Dr. Levin believes in maintaining balance and natural aesthetics. Her commitment to global volunteerism and education has shaped her holistic approach to skin health. She is dedicated to providing the highest-quality skin care using state-of-the-art technology and the most advanced techniques to customize every treatment to meet her patients’ needs.
